I just didn’t hear the warning call “Timber!”. In September 2018, as I often do, I was doing some forestry work in the dense spruce forest when, out of nowhere, a tree weighing over a ton, hit me from behind. The emergency team was quite surprised to find that I was still conscious in view of my serious injuries.
At the hospital, the situation seemed dramatic – severe fractures of the shoulder, vertebrae, pelvis and legs, and a level 1 out of 3 traumatic head injury. However, what the doctors could hardly believe was that despite the severe blow to the back of my head, there was not a single bone fracture in my head and no injury to my cervical spine. The PROTOS® Forest protected me from this and thus saved my life.
After several operations and months of rehabilitation, I went to Koblach and handed over my destroyed head protection to the PROTOS® team. The fact that I was able to walk again without a walker is just incredible.

My father Martin works as a lumberjack in the forest. He wears your head protection every day. This was also the case on Monday, February 22. He was working in the forest and a branch of a beech tree fell on him. An ambulance took him out of the forest. My father had a severe concussion, a fractured head and a broken shoulder blade. It was awful! The police, a doctor and his colleagues said, „If he hadn‘t had such a high-quality head protection, he would not have survived.“ Why am I writing? To thank you and give special thanks for your helmet.

One of your PROTOS® Arborist, purchased in 2020, saved my life on Friday last week. The misjudged tension wood came back and hit me head-on at eyebrow level against my forehead. There were fractures in the visual field, but nothing that cannot be fixed with reconstructive surgery. A skull cap or cervical spine fracture was avoided. A few more kilojoules and it would have been over. So, I was still able to make my own way back and get treatment.
After my convalescence, I will definitely buy a PROTOS® again.
